Do you take insurance?

My practice does not accept insurance. Being a self-pay practice allows me to better protect your information and provide you with the highest quality of care. Many of my clients are able to submit receipts or a superbill of their appointments to their insurance to be reimbursed with me as an out-of-network provider. You can even contact your insurance provider now to see if they will do that. I'm not involved in that process, but I can give you some ideas to help with that process. The first session is 210.00 and subsequent sessions are 185.00.

How often do we come in?

I work on a regular/standing appointment schedule, so that you have the same time and day each week (every Tuesday at 4pm, for example). This has been especially helpful in working with kids as the predictability and consistency lends itself to making progress that lasts. Sometimes families will ask if they can have every other week appointments, and I do this toward the end of treatment as a “check in” before we finish. Otherwise, I’ve noticed that having every other week becomes like digging in the sand, where you have to keep re-covering old ground. In the end, it leads to needing more sessions than if you had come in every week for a more focused time.

How long will this take?

Great question! It depends on the need and severity of the issue. I have noticed that most kids and families will see some change after 12-14 sessions. Sometimes, this happens in less time and sometimes it takes a bit longer, which depends on how much you’re able to do at home.

Will I be in the session with my child?

Yes! I can’t wait for you to see how this works! However, I will need at least 2-3 sessions with them alone to build the therapeutic relationship. Otherwise, I have noticed that a child will just use you as their “proxy”. They will look to you instead of me in the session. Once we have a connection, then I bring you in to begin showing you the things I’m doing and how to do it at home. Sometimes this is for the entire session and sometimes just a portion. With teens the focus is more on them building a solid connection with me and we look for opportunities to have some joint sessions with you where we work on communication and family dynamics.

How do we know when we’re done?

I build in a regular schedule of parent meetings. We’ll decide in the beginning how often these should be. They are used for us to evaluate progress together and to work on tools you can use at home. You should always feel connected to how your child is progressing and how you can help out.
